by Lee Steele

The 35th Best of News Design™ general competition has concluded after three very long days of judging at Syracuse University.

Our thanks to the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications for hosting the event for 25 years; to competition coordinator Colin Smith, design team leader at the Gannett Phoenix Design Studio; and to the 22 judges who came to upstate New York to examine 8,680 entries.

National Geographic was awarded Best in Show for the 35th Edition for its multi-platform storytelling.
